Well yeah, spent the most in the world over the past decade. Had to go somewhere.

Martial to be fair looked like a young Henry when he first came in. Stunner on his debut. Lightning quick. Always taking players on. Some mixture of mind & body seems to have gone awry along the way. Too much money too soon maybe.

Maguire the stand out lunacy of course but to be honest Fred not too far behind. God knows what the logic behind that one was. Shambolic purchase for the money.

It's a woeful list and no mistake but it would look a lot better if those players had come into a dressing room that had standards and a club ran competently. If city/Liverpool had signed some of those duds they'd have gotten a lot more out of them.

At least we got most of 'our' money back on Di Maria and Lukaku though I suppose.

There was a list on Twitter yesterday somewhere (can't remember which account) that listed top 15 most expensive transfers and I'd say only about 3 or 4 were actual successes, a couple of okays and the rest were awful, especially Coutinho, Dembele and Griezman to Barca for a combined £400m
