Not like we have any other players who need replacing this summer. May as well get rid of the decent ones too. Seems a good strategy for a successful rebuild. What could possibly go wrong.
If he goes it’s because he wants to. What are we supposed to do, cry?

If we need a goalkeeper who constantly bails us out, then we’re doing something wrong elsewhere on the pitch. That’s contributed to De Gea’s legend for far too long. I distrust players that don’t develop their all round game, and he hasn’t. Whether it’s Madrid, PSG, wherever..he’s going to get found out elsewhere same as he did with Spain and us this year.
What a load of shit. Bloke has a couple of bad games and all of a sudden his game is limited

He's been incredible for us and has been behind an awful defence for most of his time here.

Yep and he never undermined any of the managers nor sulked when he didn't get his move in 2015. A pleasure to watch him develop from a scrawny youngster to the best in the world.

He's been one of the best keepers in the World for the past few years, not sure about him being 'found out'

However, would not be averse to us getting in a more vocal keeper who has a better presence in his area if DDG does decide to leave. May actually help out some of our £#%&!wits somewhat. DDG is one of the best shot stoppers I have ever seen, but reminds me of a far better version of Shay Given, who had similar limitations in terms of his command of his box and defence.

Goalkeeping has evolved, sweeper keepers are now the norm with the defence higher up the pitch. Dave doesn’t come off his line, he’s a shot stopper and he’s stop being good at that and thus his defence is playing deeper and when we don’t have a ball playing defender the build up takes longer.

He's about as vocal as a mute at a convention for the deaf.

Thanks for the memories, would have left 2 seasons ago except for a fax machine that's probably been around since sharp sponsored us, thoughts with draggers etc.

El Rincon will be fuming that their takings are down next season

Yup, when VDS was in goal for us the entire defence would be 10 yards further forward as he was directing them all game which in turn would push the rest of the team up. While his shot stopping was good he was also able to rely on excellent anticipation, with De Gea unless the ball is within 5 yards of him/the goal-line he doesn't move.

Think he's had enough, standing behind 4 of them for 6 years.

The reason he wants to are entirely avoidable. Like Herrera, the club have pissed him off with their approach to contracts. Broken wage structure; injury prone, underperforming players and some bad attitudes rewarded with pay rises. Good pros like Mata, Herrera and De Gea not getting what they want. No wonder the dressing room seems split and devoid of team spirit.

That’s the thing. People want to get rid of the players with bad attitudes, yet we’ve lost one good pro with a good attitude, and may well lose another. This isn’t how to rebuild when there’s so many players that do need £#%&!ing off. Yet most of them have been given new contracts and pay rises whilst de gea and Herrera haven’t. It’s backwards.

Forever? The defence isn’t playing deeper because of de gea.

The contract issue affects de gea more than most, much as it did under van gaal. He’s both pissed off and bluffing over his contract demands. But he’ll leave if the club don’t budge on their offer, because of the ill will the club are causing within the squad.

If he was playing as a sweeper keeper the defence would be pushed up more but he doesn’t come off his line.
