Default Football transfer rumours: Rio Ferdinand to Spurs?

Today's tittle-tattle lived to tell the tale

Bad news for Kolo Touré today, readers. McDonald's have raised the price of Big Ma... Manchester City want to take away his image rights following his failed drugs test, according to the Mirror, something that could cost the defender £1.5m. Touré is so angry with the row over the rights – which give the owner access to vast archives of Kolo sitting in the stands in a suit looking a bit fed up – that he's threatening to leave City. Kolo's brother, Yaya, isn't too happy about the situation either, according to the Mirror, but won't leave because it is City suits rather than Roberto Mancini who are behind the ruling.

Maybe Kolo should start reading caughtoffside.com because they reckon Arsène Wenger wants some defenders to play in defence rather than Per Mertesacker. All this means Arsenal will snap up Touré in January and give him a Polaroid to take as many pictures of himself as he wants.

Caughtoffside also reckon Rio Ferdinand and Michael Owen will be off to Tottenham come January, so Ferdinand can be closer to James Corden, Piers Morgan, Kevin Pietersen and whoever else he chooses to Do Banter with that day. Owen's not particularly bothered about all that, he just fancies the trip.

Everton's chairman, Bill Kenwright, is in talks with Indian company the Jain Group over investment in the club. The company specialises in energy and property but whether they turn out to be one of those investors who let you spend £35m on Andy Carroll or are Venky's is anyone's guess.

And finally, Alan Hansen gets £1.5m a year for sitting on the Match of the Day sofa and Tory MP Damian Collins really isn't happy about the whole thing. "It is a lot of money for Alan Hansen," said Collins. "Mr Collins's comments are unfair," a BBC spokesman didn't say. "His comments are very incisive and you can't put a price tag on the jokes he tells about Gary Lineker not scoring many from outside the area. Plus, he's not Alan Shearer."
