Nah, we’re falling apart in halves of football. It’s a trend. The data is out there. Three games in seven months.

Honestly, what is the point talking about this anymore?
We've been slapped, humiliated, embarrassed etc.

At the end of the day it's 3 points dropped. Move on, take it out of Betis on Thursday and Southampton on Sunday

Exactly.

Dr City has 66 posts in this thread ffs. Sure most of them are paragraphs long too. It’s madness.

Straying into “lads, it’s united “ territory for future games at Anfield.

What a shitshow.

Fully on side with Dr Paragraph here.

The new top red thing seems to be pretending not to be arsed about getting absolutely routed by our biggest rivals.

We've had a 4-1, 6-3, 4-0, 5-0 and 7-0 in little over 12 months against city and Liverpool. Snide brigade are out with their green smilies if anyone suggests that a worrying trend...

It's the day after the joint biggest defeat in the clubs 150 year history, and it was away to our biggest rivals.

"Why isn't everyone focusing on real betis in the uefa cup last 16 on Thursday"

Counter argument - we’ve obviously improved enough this season to have won a trophy and be sitting in third place. A year ago we were getting pumped by all sorts of teams, not just the top ones in the country. It was embarrassing.

Yes - yesterday was a shocking result and it felt bad, but no way am I going to say it’s a trend when the fact is that ETH has worked miracles in getting us to turn our form around. If it’s still happening in a years time then maybe I’ll start worrying a bit more, but all the evidence so far in ETH’s short time here suggests that he does learn from his mistakes and we respond well every single time he’s made them.

Not one person is saying they aren’t arsed about yesterdays result ffs.

A few are saying "£#%&! it, move on" which is fair enough imo.

No point in dwelling because that's exactly what we DON'T want from our players etc.

I wouldn’t call the loss a Trend. Different manager where we have seen obvious improvement . It was a crap result they told us what we already knew.

Need a Cf need a CM to help Casemiro and need a RB.

Once we get new owners whoever they maybe we can draw a line under the poor results and manner post fergie. Hopefully the whole club will be pulled in the same direction of wanting to be the best . Poor attitude won’t do.

If we manage to bag top 4 and another trophy , new owners in the summer the result will be long forgotten.

Still £#%&!ing seething and utterly £#%&!ed off by the powerlessness of it all

£#%&! all to be said, no chance of avenging, and at this moment in time, no escape. Don’t particularly want to watch any of them play again at this moment.

Think most see the absolute futility in writing paragraph after paragraph about something which is best forgotten.

No amount of paragraphs or whining like an hysterical 13 year old girl is going to make Utd win yesterday's game 8-7.

Roll on Thursday.

People saying it’s a freak result. It’s not though for the core group of players we’ve had for years like Dave, Fred, Dalot, Shaw, Bruno, The Scottish Player etc all these lads are involved in hammerings all under different managers. What does that tell you? They all need shipping off, these lads turn it in when the going gets tough and don’t even have the intelligence to make decisions on the pitch to stop it being a hiding. Still bombing forward when we’re 5-0 down. What you doing lads? Think you can win 6-5?

yup. after the brighton and brentford games... funnily enough, backed off a performance against liverpool. there have been blips... against city and villa, for example.... but we are generally moving in the right direction. no one thinks this isn't just the start of the journey, surely?

Is he really working miracles?

I'd say he's slightly outperforming expectations.

what's the difference?

he's not literally performing miracles, because this isn't a fairy story.

On the whole, I agree. To be clear on the ‘trend’ point - as these things do get lost when they’re extracted like this - it was in context of needing to improve our away form before we can be considered title contenders. Sparky and a couple of other mentioned heavy defeats away and how we’ve capitulated. Hence the ‘trend’ comment.

Despite that, the trajectory is largely positive and the other trends you’ve mentioned are far more prominent and positive.

It’s merely where we are and the next phase of our development.

ETH has us way ahead of schedule and where we should be when you consider this is still largely last season’s squad.

If it ain’t miracles, it ain’t far off.

still can't £#%&!ing believe that yesterday. it was like some kind of fever dream. like our players suddenly forgot they were playing for a team 3rd in the table, already with one trophy under their belt. like people have said, some tinpot league two side wouldn't have been hammered 7-0 by them. it's not like they're where they were about 3-4 years ago, they've been largely average this season and even £#%&!ing leeds managed to get a win at anfield.

we bounced back from the battering at city, so hopefully we'll do the same, but if we hit a dip in form i will be very concerned. because in recent years we've gone on good runs only to have one bad result derail our entire seasons, due to the fragility of some of the players who are still in this squad.

Yep, I’d happily sit back at 0-5
