It's most similar to the Rossi situation, he went on to be a top striker, although hampered with injuries by the end.
He was amazing in reserves and never got a chance cos we sent him on loan and preferred to loan larsson. He was a class act and could've easily been a 20 goal a season player for us. Wilson is the best reserve striker since Rossi. He looked better than rashford. That said he never took his chances and rashford has been ridiculous in the first team. That loan move from LVG killed wilsons chances. |

Shame if true, as there were such high hopes. Van Gaal was making the point last season when praising the consistency of some of our young players, that good debuts mean very little. In fact it's quite common for young players to do well in their first game or two. You learn much more in the third, fourth and fifth games. Truth is he's made very little impression over the last couple of years.
Fortunately for us, in Bo-Jak, Shaw, Mensah, Martial, Rashford and hopefully Bailly, we have a core U21 who look to be the real deal. |
