Can only agree. Buchan was magnificent.

Only have to check our run of results in the second division when he was out for 10 games.

I'd take scholes over cantona as well.

and I would always find room for mcgrath and hughes.

See I hate that bullshit that he's somehow more qualified than you or me, I saw both Irwin & Evra countless times and Denis was miles ahead of Pat in both his defensive work and especially his attacking game. No Robbo

Couldn't agree more that it's down to opinion - what I meant was that he goes right back to 58 and probably games hes missed you could count on one hand. And not a kid when he became the Utd journalist for the MEN post Munich.

Wouldn't be my team either - but I wouldn't consider Foulkes, Stiles, or Crerand as they were mostly before my time and tv coverage from then only really shows goals etc. so I think you can only judge forward players.

Very different players at very different times. Both heroes. In fact, all you have named are legends.

neville played in a far better team so had less defending to do, but I still think he shades jimmy nicholl

And Gidman was unlucky with injuries. Neville linked up well with beckham but after he left he didn't seem to have the same effect as an attacking full back. IMO

Can't not have Ronaldo in imo - agree with Buchan but always amazed how McGrath is always overlooked in these things although he did probably play his best football at Villa. Anyone for Stam? My first teams were mid 70s so I'd go for

Schmeichel
G Neville
Buchan
Stam
Irwin

Ronaldo
Scholes
Robson
Giggs

Cantona
Hughes

Toss of a coin between Robbo and Keane tbh. Likewise vidic and buchan.

Tbh I'd say theres a case for Irwin at rb. It's where he played for a couple of years when we signed him. To his credit he became just as good at lb
