I wouldn’t get your hopes up. But I’m sure when Rio finally makes his return sometime in March 2012, we’ll told he’s “like a new signing”.

Ffs, Monday it was looking like we were heading towards having a fully fit squad for the run-in post international break and in 3 days we have lost 3 players for a decent length of time :shakehead: un-£#%&!ing believable, we can't catch a break.
Yea. Bit strange that he’s gone from a muscle strain to out for the season. Incredible shame as, when he was playing this season, he actually looked back to his best. There’s not a centre back in the land that can touch an in form Rio.

It’s like the Ledley King situation at Spurs, which I don’t think is great. Doesn’t matter how good a player is, if they can’t be relied upon to start a decent percentage of our games because of mysterious injuries, I’m not sure they’re worth keeping. Had enough of this %@#$&!s with Saha, the ‘2 weeks’ saga, Hargreaves...
This....

you may be onto something there,

He's not that small, he's got great feet, he's difficult to win the ball off, even when it comes at him at speed, he can head it ... can he tackle ?

it'd be a huge disaster but I love seeing forwards pressed into a defensive role nonetheless. Chris Sutton did it fairly successfully back in the day.

Hmmmm problems......Vidic is the main loss. For all Smalling's qualities, he's not been as good without Vidic. Hopefully Wes was just lacking games and the pair of them an understanding. Hopefully they'l improve. Good time for an international break. We should have Vida, Rafa and Fletcher back by then.

We just need to get through this Bolton game. It's going to be very very tough. Bad team to be playing with two strikers, but we just need to show a little bit of character.

As for Rio: Very predictable. Useless. No room for more highly paid passengers ala Hargreaves, Neville and Saha.

I agree completely, but it looks like we’re lining up Rodwell to take up their mantel and keep the medical staff busy
