My old man worked on that rig a number of times and was even due to be on it when disaster struck (he lost some good mates, which I think f***ed him up for life). It certainly didn't affect his love of a good outdoor grill, though.

True story/ies.

brought in lots of changes tbf. Catalogue of errors.

In the top 3 deaths I've ever read about - some poor bugger climbing away from the flames like spiderman with everyone praying for him to survive - then the structure falling into a sea of burning oil. Horrific.

Sorry about that mate - I think I saw on FB some cool photos of your old man on the rigs. He was a cool son of a gun.

Agreed. Also get a smokenator for a Weber BBQ for doing decent sized joints or ribs, it keeps the temperature down and has a water bath to keep it humid.
Did a rack of lamb on mine last Sunday and a rack of ribs Friday night. Low and slow for the ribs, a 7 hour cook then blather with BBQ sauce and over hot coals for the finishing touch. Amazing.

Cheers Jez. The fact that he died on social media constructed 'international steak and blow job day' was somehow fitting!

Best barbeque I ever had was made out of bricks by me and the boys, back in the day.

*just remembered improvising when we went out trekking in the Balkan mountains:

Those pork neck steaks were done to perfection.

Or just use a chimney, some newspaper and a box of matches. Hot coals in about 20 minutes and no building a campfire or nicking your birds jam rags to get your tea
