Football Sean Bones on SSN

Just braved SSN to see what all the Ronaldo fuss was about and caught a clip of this fella banging on about how he's gonna judge the Glazers on whether Ferguson spends his warchest by the end of this transfer window or not.

According to his calculator, United have the money earmarked for Tevez, the money they'll bring in for one or two fringe players, the £80m for Ronaldo, the £25m they always have each summer, plus all the money they'll save on wages.

He reckons therefore that this money must all be shelled out before August 31st or else. I'd imagine he'd be prepared to take into account the running of the academy and reserve teams, plus the wages of Owen and Valencia. But the rest has to be spent.

So what if the players Ferguson wants can't be got? So what if Ferguson actually doesn't even want any more players? Spend spend spend...

Is Bones £#%&!ing serious?

Sometimes I get the impression that for a lot of fans the ideal scenario is to win everything and spend huge amounts every year, with winning everything and spending nothing a distant second.

It sums up the problem I have with IMUSA et al in a nutshell

Should've just said that they'll be watching closely over the next few transfer windows to see whether the necessary investment in the football side of the club is being made in order to maintain the club's success in challenging for top honours.

is he still alive??

been totally overshadowed by the driving instructor lately

but in all seriously, united have to spend some money this summer, or its getting swallowed.

we should have about £100m to spend as it stands and if we don't spend it won't be rolled over.

Reasonable point

Al he's doing is asking the question as to whether the Glazers are more concerned with the club being successful or paying off the debt they've hung around the club.

To be successful they have to replace the 50 or so goals that Ronaldo and Tevez would have chipped in with next season. This obviously costs money which they have already recieved - £80m and saved £25m.

The signingas of Valencia and Owen can be taken out of the annual transfer budget of £25m leaving the club £100m up

If they're not going to spend it on players because their are none???? then why not use some of the the cash to lower season tickets?

If SAF is unconcerned enough to go the tennis

there will be no more signings.

The mark up on Ronaldo has not been lost on the gimps

It may mean another 5m a year in the kitty from reduced interest payments to buy and develop foreigners

It's servicing the debt
