i wish fergie could've handled Keane better too. he should've been out earlier imo but the way it ended was awful.
Would we have signed Rio if Stam had stuck around?

Rio>Stam for me.

Beckham and Ronaldo didnt bother me too much as both had been a long time coming. Ronaldo felt like common knowledge his entire final season, I also naively (as f***) expected us to be shopping at the top end of the market for 2 attacking players to make up for it. (Benzema, Sneijder, Ribery, Robben being linked) Not pushing for getting Robben and Sneijder in return was a big mistake imo.

I also felt Beckham was looking a bit stale in his final season and we needed to mix things up a bit. After Portugal England at Euro 2004 there was little doubt we were going to be better off with the change we made.

Yeah, it was by then a running joke about how unproductive his set pieces had become.

The writing was on the wall the previous season, took 9 months to negiotiate a one year extension which was announced on the pitch at home to Charlton. I knew then that he would be off.

The same fixture the following season was his last ever for us at OT.

Stam or Ronaldo by a mile. Ronaldo had an air of inevitability about it for years though didn't it. Letting Stam go was a monumental f*** up by ferie. One of the worst footballing decisions I can remember during my lifetime. Then worsened by signing f***ing Barthez and Blanc ffs

“Air of inevitability” didn’t he basically say he wanted to leave every day for two years?

Stam tested positive for nandralone just 3 months later.... An internal test showed it so they got rid under cover of the book

Yes, always thought there was more to Stam's sudden departure than we have ever been told in public

Wondered what Anderson is up to now...

Retired at age 31 in September after a brief spell (12 games) in the Turkish 2nd Division

Fabio was a close second behind Eric for me. Really wanted the twins as a unit to be part of the club for a lot longer than they were.

Fabio started a Champions League Final yet never felt like he made it as a trusted United player
