John Terry's legal team might make a bad character application against Anton Ferdinand during his racism trial, a court has heard.

The ex-England captain, 31, will stand trial at Westminster Magistrates' Court in 9 July accused of a racially-aggravated public order offence.

Mr Terry's barrister, George Carter-Stephenson QC, has now said he is considering making the application.

Bad character applications are used to cast doubt on a witness's evidence.

The trial relates to a comment allegedly made and caught on camera to the Queens Park Rangers defender when the two teams played last October.

Does this mean that John Terry, the girlfriend stealing, disabled parking space taking, dancefloor pissing, 9/11 mocking, tour round Stamford Bridge for a few grand, racist is a good character?

the complaint was made by several members of the public and the cps acted on their evidence and the video evidence. at best ferdinand simply corroborated what others had already seen and said.

The Metropolitan Police have launched a formal investigation into allegations Chelsea captain John Terry racially abused QPR's Anton Ferdinand.

Police have spent a week assessing a complaint made by a member of the public after QPR's 1-0 win over Chelsea.
A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were notified of an incident on Sunday October 23 involving alleged racial abuse. This is currently being investigated by officers from Hammersmith and Fulham."

Terry, who was on the bench for Chelsea's Champions League tie against Genk after hearing about the investigation, has denied making a racist remark to Ferdinand during the game

The 31-year-old defender insists his words have been taken out of context.

Ferdinand has submitted his account of the exchange to the Football Association (FA), which is also investigating the alleged incident.

He said in a statement: "I have very strong feelings on the matter, but in the interests of fairness and not wishing to prejudice what I am sure will be a very thorough inquiry by the FA, this will be my last comment on the subject until the inquiry is concluded."

qpr made a separate complaint but to the fa, not the police

The FA can confirm it has received a complaint relating to an alleged incident of racist abuse in the QPR versus Chelsea fixture at Loftus Road on 23 October 2011.

The FA will now begin to make enquiries into this matter.

The FA takes seriously any allegations of discrimination and abuse of this type.

No further comment will be issued at this time.

I can imagine it now, his defence lawyer gets up and plays that video which clearly shows he's a @#%&!.

He then gets out some colour swatches that prove Anton's skin colour is in fact closer to the black then it is white.

The case would be thrown out in minutes.
