A legend, and hero in word and deed.

God bless.

An incredibly modest man as well.

It was his career as a player, and not for heroic actions at Munich, which Gregg wished to be remembered.
"I'm Henry Gregg, 34 Windsor Avenue, who played football. Who was useful at it on good days and rubbish at it on bad days," he said in 2008.
"That's what I want to be remembered for - not something that happened on the spur of the moment."

RIP

hero gets tossed around rather liberally these days, but this man was an actual hero in every sense of the word. RIP Harry

Nobody is trying to compare him to Caroline Flack or anything, but yeah, he was a brave sonofabitch.

Not much to add to this thread, a genuinely good and brave man - and not just for that one day.

Apart from Charlton of course, how many survivors are left now?

That's just it, we will never know the true figure.

According to Wikipedia one of the stewardesses is still alive, and perhaps one or two non-footballing passengers.
