Default United IPO put on hold - Quatuari bid?

Whilst the Glazer's have cited market volatility as the cause and are still aiming for the end of the year it does seem slightly suspect.

Especially as the economic landscape is very unlikely to have improved by december....december 2018 maybe.

Very strange, the French media wouldn't normally bother with what seems to be complete %@#$&!s (surely?) but here's a L'Equipe story quoting information obtained by Canal+ that United will be sold in the coming hours.

The project was discussed for several years, but it seems he has entered a decisive phase. According to information from Canal + Sport, Manchester United could be in the next few hours, bought by the Emir of Qatar, which is in London to further negotiation. Such a transaction would it have on a full surrender, the amount would then be around two billion euros, or a partial redemption, thanks to an introduction of a stake in the club to the Singapore Stock Exchange ? This progress of the file, which could lead to an agreement in the coming days, comes as the FC Barcelona also has to decide soon on a partnership with Qatar Sports Investment.

The only thing that makes me consider it for a minute is that the same French sources confirmed it when they were buying PSG, still can't see it though.

Why would the French be interested in a potential bid for United?

Sounds very fishy indeed.

Rough translation.

And if Manchester United came under the flag of Qatar? The assumption has been first mentioned by the Daily Mirror on Friday, speaking to a contact between the current Emir of Qatar and the Glazer family, currently owns the Red Devils.

According to Canal Plus , the file has accelerated in recent hours. The Emir of Qatar is currently in London to discuss in person to a total or partial Mancunian club. Amount of the transaction according to the encrypted string: 2 billion euros. The Daily Mirror had spoken to him a, 7 billion. Malcolm Glazer, the American owner, was never accepted by Old Trafford and would not be against a sale.

With Qatari investors, he found partners of choice. After including Malaga and PSG, the royal family of Qatar could take over one of the best clubs in the world, both sporting and financial terms. Unlike the Parisian club or Malaga, no need here to build a long term project, everything is already in place. This explains the crazy amount that the Qataris would be willing to spend. While Manchester United one of the cousins soon PSG?

Am I the only one that shudders at the thought of Qatar ownership?

For all the financial implications of the Glazer's reign, they have undoubtedly kept their nose out of the thing they know nothing about, football. There is no way that Qataris would pay 2 billion for us and do the same.
