The sad part is that Martial played with more intensity and energy then, and it was still a problem with his game that he needed to work on.

It really stands out when you watch some of the other wide players at the top clubs, Mane, Sterling, Son etc and then Martial playing at walking speed. A little self awareness would help.

I don't think Mane, Sterling etc were at their peak fitness at the beginning of the season but due to some fancy training techniques they grew as the season went on.

Perhaps but it is more a mentality issue. You have to want to work hard, do the dog runs that might not lead to anything in that moment. Lingard takes so much stick but one of the reasons he became an important player is his energy levels in a team with Martial, Matic, Pogba and Lukaku. No wonder any type of intense pressing is impossible to sustain with this team.

what's interesting is the lack of movement when we have the £#%&!ing ball never mind tracking back and getting back in position.

You would think when we have the ball everyone would want it to feet etc we just £#%&!ing stand there look around and give it away.

Which brings more attention to how poor our distribution is from the back. So typical Utd, watched Derby come to OT this year with a clogger like Richard Keogh their main passer from the back. Extremely limited player but because they worked hard enough to create the angles for passes, kept demanding the ball they were able to play out from the back efficiently(aided by our lazy press)

Utd for years have been building the wrong type of team for modern football.

tbf to Fred he offers himself - Matic is so pedestrian - Pogba is often slow in his decision making - no real dynamic play down the flanks. It is limited options

Lindelof is quality on the ball but can't do that at right back so we had two poor passers in the middle.

Very typical United that a guy signs a 5-year contract and can’t get off the bench in a must-win game two months later. Preferring Lukaku is hard enough to understand.

Really, why’s that then? You think we should indulge him a little bit more?

How the jury is not back in on this kid yet beggars belief.

It’s £#%&!ing unbelievable. The sort of thing you’d expect to hear at your kid’s match.
