Default Jermaine Defoe

Available on a free this summer...

With Rooney and Ibra (more than likely) gone

Would you take him?

You know who obviously wouldn't have allowed that to happen

“In my time as manager I wouldn't have allowed a clause to be in there but it is and we have to honour the contract.”

Has he scored since Christmas? Has a real problem with the business end of the season as a rule..

In short, no.

Absolutely we would be 12 points better off if he had been playing for us

If say we sign a top forward to compete with Rashford and then bring in Defoe I think we'd have a good set of forwards. We're missing a 'fox in the box' type and Defoe coming off the bench would be a good option.

If Ibra goes I'd take him for a season as long as we get someone else also (Kane, Lukaku, some Youtubeinho). He's not 'elite level' but he knows where the goal is and would help as a back up. He'd also be cheap relatively.

As long as he wasn't used as our main striker.

Decent option as a sub though

He's 34 for £#%&!s sake and was reduced to signing for Toronto 2 years ago,

The utter state of this idea being given a cautious welcome by people who hammered Fergie for signing a 30 year old Micky Owen on a free as a 3rd striker option and think Lukaku isn't United quality. VVS2C.

Yep, all this.

You could add, quite legitimately, that he was such a roaring success for Sunderland that they finished bottom of the league
