glad we agree

incidentally, rooney scored 1 more goal but only scored in 17 league games compared to van Persie scoring in 21 league games.

i suggest that that is the most important statistic in terms of direct comparison between the main goal scorer in the two seasons in question

the difference overall may not have been that big, but it is measurable
and ...

No of goals scored by RVP that were

first in the match - 7
match winners - 5
goals that got us a point - 2

That's not count 2 goals against southampton which kept us in the game before the winner and his goal against newcastle which made got us back to 3-3

Compare that to rooney's in the previous season...

first in the match - 7
match winners - 3
goals that got us a point - 0

looks a lot different than just saying 27 goals as opposed to 26 goals.

They were certainly poor than the previous one... but not that poor. They failed to convert draws into wins. Lost almost same number of matches. Got knocked out first round in both seasons, although did much better in other cup competitions.

23 - 9 - 6

28 - 5 - 5

They couldn't rise up to united's challenge

the previous one they got away after the 1st derby and we caught them

last season we got away after the 1st derby and they didn't catch us

they couldn't live with the run of wins I've mentioned

your argument is characteristically simple
