Lots of boring passing etc.

Absolutely immense. Their 0-2 win in Madrid was a travesty. Should have won 0-12.

Brutal team.

great team.

don't know if it's just because it was the decade I was growing up, but the 1990s was a great era for european football: milan early 90s, ajax/juve mid 90s, and us winning the £#%&!ing thing in 99.

The centre-half playing the last pass there

Van Der Sar, De Boer and Overmars all running the club now

Below is a link to a download of that match

The amount of times Ajax hit the woodwork in that match

Puts our “performances” away to Madrid to shame

A superb side, which was pretty much dismantled just a few seasons later (rather like their early 70s one)

Will we ever see a great Ajax team again??

When modern football dies and is re-born as a proper sport again

some £#%&!ing team that. was the backbone of the dutch national side for much of the '90s as well.

that goal reminded me of cantona's third v. norwich in 1993. great commentary from steve mclaren too.

Slightly naive defending there. If you're going to press high and commit players forward to win the ball in the attacking half, you've got to throw a cynical foul in there when you fail, or you will be badly outnumbered on the break, as they were.

It was a great decade.

Barca Dream Team of the early 90s. Koeman, Romario, Stoichkov, Laudrup. AC Milan tonking them in '94.

Loved the Dynamo Kiev side from 1998/99, too. Schevchenko and Rebrov. They bossed Madrid in Europe that season.

There is an argument that in many ways football peaked in the mid-late 1990s and it has been mostly downhill since
