Amateur Twitter analysts really do want to kill any joy in the game.

He’s been doing well but there’s loads more to do.

He is the right person for the job

yes and also city and guardiola's success has been predicated on having largely unlimited amounts of money to continually regenerate the squad.

He inherited a team that were champions 18 months earlier and preceded to build upon 8 years of hyper spending.

Ten Hag doesn't have that luxury so his journey will arguably take longer and have more pitfalls alone the way

The big take home from that is that we can’t dominate and pin teams back in the way we want to because the group isn’t good enough (yet). It’s more chaotic and transitional than he would like. This is why we see phases in games where we lose control. It’s a far cry from where we were though and all our shortcomings can be attributed to it being early in the process, both in terms of ETH getting his message across and with recruitment.

You do feel our best route to victory against City is hitting them on the counter.

We can beat them. They’re not as great as that thread makes out. If they were, they wouldn’t be five points off the top. We need to be absolutely bang at it and be near perfect though.

True. This isn't that bad though. They make good points on the clear progress and points out the current weaknesses.

Yeah I didn’t have a problem with the thread. They were talking about our structure and their structure on and off the ball. With actual footage. That’s interesting. It’s XG and ‘chances created’ contextless bore stats that can £#%&! off.

Huge reds - the whole family.

Great touch by Erik.

Getting beat on Saturday wouldn’t really affect how impressed I am by our progress - it’s been brilliant. The whole aura around the club feels different.

Fortunately, debt rates rather than impressive on pitch progress will be the determining factor for the glazers so we really do feel like we’re on the cusp of a big ish turnaround.

Another pumping by city would be fairly horrible though and we do tend to shit our load when we play these @#%&!s.

A victory would be exquisite…..

Well, he's doing OK isn't he

We have an equally important game against Palace in midweek, though. No time to rest on his laurels.
