yep because he never played against us or in the league we watch and compete in or even for the country most of us live in.

He has been known as a Southgate and lampard pet. Says it all tbh

Don’t think it’s a case of people think he’s going to be world class right away. It’s more, he is here now, give him a blank slate, support him and get behind him.

I didn’t think too much of him before he signed (didn’t even want him tbh) but he’s here and I hope he plays well and comes good. He can only do this if given the chance and not written off after 90 mins (or mins he played in a Chelsea team).

You support Manchester United. He is here now and nothing you can do about it. May aswell support him and hope he does well rather than scrutinise every thing he does.

Ultimately as a United fan would you rather mount play good or bad? You want him to play good. So why put so much energy in having a go at him online every second

If after a season or two he is playing poor football. Then by all means get knives out. It’s been one game for us.

I hope he plays well and will support him. but then no one wants him to fail or just wants to be proven correct. people are merely stating opinions because they hold them. if you're just going say "I back anyone in the shirt and trust 10h's judgement", then close the forum.

as it goes, mount being better than we expect won't undermine the point being made. he's not significantly better than the players we have and doesn't fill a gap in the squad, so should not have been signed at the expense of players we actually need.

that's not even writing him off, it's just saying we have bigger issues. if money is short, he is a waste of it.

that said, he's not going to be world class right away or however long you wait. soz.

I didn’t literally expect him to be world class but he can be a player that improves the team. Obviously there’s no guarantee. He could very well flop or ruin the balance of the team. Probably saw that with the tactical adjustments ETH made to fit him in on Monday. But it was one game.

I agree with you that I rather sign that CM first . If reports are believed we are in the “need to sell to buy “ stage, then it does look rather foolish spending 50 odd million in him when we could have had Amrabat sewn up. If maguire and other don’t leave and we are only left with the signings we have already made then it would be extremely foolish to not have signed a partner for Casemiro first.

I still think Monday the players were lacking sharpness and weren’t fully fit. Also against teams that press is where mount will come into his own as the passing lanes forward into the front 4/5 players will be more open. I expect a much better game against Tottenham and I expect mount to be a big part of it.

We will have a better idea of what he’s capable of in the next few games. Will be interesting to see how ETH plays him in the coming months

If we have another stinker and get carved open tomorrow by Spurs I will have genuine concerns for the season as a whole.

Hopefully ETH and his team will have addressed the problem and he’ll be better positioned.

I don’t care about his goals or assists - we’ve got plenty of people who can do that. We need him supporting big Cas.

Yet Klopp, Arteta and Pep wanted him. Ok

What you say about that, Mr brainless?

Yea, give him Eriksen role last season. Let the fullbacks join that back three or attack down the wing rather than move into the Center so often.

Il be surprised if the tactics and approach are changed though tbh

When he was getting nominated as Chelsea's POTY was he in midfield with Kante by any chance?

nope he was the third midfielder.

usually partnered with 2 of kante , kovacic and Jorginho.

he presents a conundrum we have seen before but will be judged very different to this player who was abused left right and centre.
no suprises there.

Yeah, the treatment of Mata was pretty sickening. He was a nice guy and in my opinion more talented than Mount.

I’ll be quite happy to watch him play a few games and then pass judgment (or offer my opinion). Plenty of players we have bought over the years that I didn’t fancy and they pleasantlly surprised me. And vice versa. There used to be a word …. “patience” .. I think.

I will say this.
when PP was in our midfield, we need a proper defensive midfielder so the midfield didnt give the ball away and get over run, we then deployed 2 in there mcfred and it still happened, we then brought in a specialist 5x cl winner and it still happens.
we then brought in a 'final' part of the jigsaw and the dynamic looks wrong.

theres been one consistent in all these scenarios.
