Default Phil Jones

Quote:
Meanwhile, United will be without Phil Jones, who has not travelled to the Europa League finals due to a knee injury.
The 28-year-old has endured a tough season and made the last of eight appearances in January’s FA Cup fourth-round win at Tranmere. Jones has been absent since football resumed after the coronavirus suspension through injury but had been named in United’s 30-man squad for the Europa League final-eight tournament in Germany.
Got to be done here now, surely to £#%&!?

That would injure Jones for 6 weeks.

He's got 3 years left on his contract...he isn't going anywhere.

Not sure why were only focusing on what he’s done this year, he’s played an average of 25 games a season since he came here in 2011 He puts Bale to shame.

Remember getting bad repped about 10 years ago for calling this fraud out. Would be interested in finding out who it was.

Quite literally prefer him injured and away from the team completely. Even better when he leaves. We wasted a lot of money on Sanchez (who is a good footballer) which eases the fact that this #@&%! earns a wage to play football for us.

This is our problem as a club. While we tend to focus on our big money flops (and there have been a few in the last 5 years)... it's taken attention away from these average plodders who survive multiple managerial changes.

I can't believe we gave him a new contract. Baffling.

i agree with this - death by a thousand cuts.

fergie was as bad as anyone... but as we saw before he retired, he could at least push the dross on to do great things....

Would have freed him about 3 years back. It’s just daft he’s still representing us/making a living off our name.

"Phil, can you give us a quote for this press release?"

"I am delighted to have signed a new contract."

"Brilliant, thanks."

The worst decision of Ole’s era. Unbelievable that he’s survived as long as he has. I detest Jones - amoeba brain-celled £#%&!wit who’s provided other fans so much enjoyment over the years and us total misery.

Have genuine tears in my eyes everytime I see him in a united shirt. I’d like him to be humanely shot forthwith.

Jones, Ashley Young, Valencia...all players that stayed through multiple managers and ensured the quality of the squad deteriorated

Yep - still can’t work out why 3 experienced managers, two that were world class apparently rewarded such beige averageness. I can only think it was pressure from Woody because it doesn’t make any sense. It’s been mentioned a few time’s but the thing united lost, more than anything else, was mentality.

We went from this determined mentally strong outfit to overpaid scared shithouses in seconds.

To be fair, there were periods that Jones looked like he was putting together a nice run, but it never lasted either through injury or some weird melt down. I always viewed his re-ups as us protecting some sort of sell on value; I don’t think Jones has been considered the actual solution to anything for quite a while. I’m not sure Woodward is a fan, particularly since he publicly rebuked him in the stands - still not sure what Jones said -, but I don’t think he’s started since.
