Makes sense. Can see them having a go for Rice or Tchouameni to replace Fernandinho and some hideously priced LB to replace Mendy. Then they’ll flog Jesus to arse for £25.50, they’ll £#%&! Ake off too and declare sales of £150m.

It would be nice to have a top dog player come straight into midfield who knows ten hag's system

Agreed we need players who are desperate to come here for the challenge and make a name for themselves.

We should only have to ask once if we don't get a response we like we should have the balls to walk away not beg them to do us a favour and play for us - we should be bigger than that

Agreed, but I get the sense he might be talked round by ETH. If Barca are offered something they can’t afford to knock back and ETH can sell ‘the project’ then I think it’s a little different to our usual clumsy advances on 30-something cast offs that are here solely for money.

And ETH knows the lad's character so presumably we wouldn't be chasing a prima donna like di Maria or Pogba.

We still won't get him though.

Exactly. It’d be a different type of arm twist. Agreed I don’t think it’ll happen though. Barca are strapped, but Xavi seems to be nailing his colours on this one so he’d look a right tit if they sold him now.

He's happy at Barca

He certainly wouldn't move to a club not in the Champions League and possibly in the Conference League

We aren't going to blow half our transfer budget on one player this summer for once

Off

Now we see how the new regime operate.

Under the little git Woodward we’d have wasted all summer repeatedly being told no by both Barcelona and De Jong without actually making a bid.

So, if it’s a no, move onto another target.

He's a bit of a freak and not a traditional midfielder. His gift is seeming to lose the ball while almost falling over but then regaining his balance and sprinting forward with the ball.

Watch how often he does just that. It's actually weird and his main skill.

It’s like he can’t be knocked over

Leave him where he is imo. Clearly doesn’t fancy it, and if Barca are actively trying to get rid, that can’t be good.
