As the single player who arguably contributed the most towards the first and most frequent winners of the competition (certainly in the first ten years) he really should have been it's inaugural inductee.

My old man is still of the opinion he's the best United player he's ever seen.

His header at City in his debut season was great counter attacking goal too. Hughes, cross from Sharpe, glancing header. Think it finished 1-1.
