Yes and no. McLaren was no.2 but he joined around Easter 99 iirc. Brian Kidd was the asst manager until then. McLaren joined at the right time to benefit from the team SAF and Kidd created. Imho we haven't had a team as good since then.

He has only found significant success under a Labour government. He's gonna be £#%&!ed now he doesn't have Blair and Brown influencing UEFA and the likes.

Fergie has been quite open about the fact that he allowed Queiroz an almost unprecedented level of control over first-team matters, such was the extent to which he rated his coaching qualities. He gave him a lot of responsibilities, both in a tactical and coaching sense, and allowed him to change many aspects of pre-match preparation. It also seems highly likely that he was given a big say in transfer targets and we added to the coaching staff on his recommendation. Then there's the huge benefit his ability to speak five languages has in terms of communication with certain players.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him back soon. It seem almost impossible that he won't have left his position with Portugal one way or another before the suspension ends.

You see, that's the kind of stuff I was after. It seems that he did indeed give us something shorty hasn't.

We started to win things a couple of years earlier than that, of course

One odd little factoid though - perhaps the earliest portent of what was to come was the 6-2 at Highbury in the 1990-91 LC. It was played the very same night Thatcher left No 10

Wasn't correcting you (for once) just elaborating.

Liverpool's height of dominance in the mid/late 1980s coincided with Thatcher's zenith. You can't deny that one

Thatcher created the conditions that enabled United to thrive and for Liverpool to go on a downward spiral.

Aren't you the @#%&! always slavishly chasing an apology when you feel one's due?

Didn't you state on here a deal had been done to release a terrorist in exchange for a deal that benefitted BP - I can find the link if you like.
