Couldn't he wear a green four leaf poppy, instead

But seriously, over 200,000 Irish lads fought in WW1, and many gave their lives, so surely they could be remembered and honored somehow?

He said that he would honour the dead in the world wars if that was all the poppy represented but it isn't so he wouldn't.
The propaganda around it gets worse every year.

I do not recall people getting themselves into such a state about comic relief.

Pure old chap, I have been to the place where Mcclean grew up many times, and I have witnessed with my own eyes British soldiers terrorising local people. For him to support the organisation which fought back is perfectly understandable
