Default Days as a United fan that were simply great

Trophies aside, which games do you think back to that really made you happy.

I think one of my best memories has to be the charity shield after Newcastle had signed Shearer and he was expected to do great things and we spanked them 4-0 at Wembley... that was a great afternoon.

(However I will gloss over the 5-0 at SJP a few months later)...

There's been loads

Following the Reds isn't about trophies, it's the craic

The 5-0 pasting of Newcastle in 1984 is one of my favourites

Some of the football that day was amazing

When Beckham came on the go and was an impudent cheeky bastard to opposing fans..

His growing ego sorta took that away from him and he started to behave.

one of my all time favorites was the arse FA cup semi in '99

was watching in a pub in Camden with a couple of reds surrounded by bummers fans

when they got the pen i started leaving the pub to be called back to a small pocket of euphoria

danced a jig at final whistle before leaving sharpish. a truly enjoyable day

United 4 - 0 Porto 1997 European Cup Qtr Final 1st Leg

Our first, truly great, result in the European Cup under Fergie. We were brilliant that night. Was buzzing all week afterwards.

City 2 - 3 United

Brilliant game. We were like a team possessed in the 2nd half. I think Giggs came on and set Eric up straight away, didn't he? Keane with the winner, sparking mad celebrations!

Villa 2 - 3 United FA Cup 2002

Great game. Ruud at his best, coming on and changing the game in the space of 2 minutes. Pitch invasion after the 3rd and at the end were class too

Bristol City 4-0 in 1980, a dreamlike experience.

Being behind the goal at Selhurst that Beckhams half way liner went into was pretty special. I watched him pick the ball up and knew what he was doing straight away. Two other great goals that day too.

99 semi replay. To be present at such a game was enough but stopping at the motorway services on the way back to London and seeing the Arsenal fans shuffling around like the living dead was probably the highlight

Kind of a weird one but this always sticks out as great match when I was young.

When we beat Arsenal 2 - 0 at OT in 1986/87 season. Scorers were Strachan and Gibson. It was a dirty match with Whiteside kicking everyone in sight. Someone got a red card from arsenal (can't remember his name) for kicking Whiteside when he was on the ground.

As dirty as it was, two of the smallest players on the pitch got the goals.

I was only 12 at the time. Brilliant times.

That was the late David Rocastle who was dismissed (24-1-87)
