The same space that’s rashford who scored 20 odd and himself , martial and Greenwood got 60 goals between them in the previous years. All players who need space to run into as they aren’t the typical strong CF type , they rely on movement and pace. Granted the latter two haven’t been playing well , but lingards been shit for 2-3 seasons now. Has a good 4 months with a team with no expectations and all of a sudden it’s because he doesn’t have the space when he plays for us. Never mind in every game against the big teams we tend to play counter attacking football. He’s shit, he’s had a decent run in a team with no expectations and a fresh start. Don’t get it twisted , if he was a good player it doesn’t matter what style a team plays . |

So he will be denied the space at United and needed to work harder - that said I think the change will him good but he needs to stay gone really. Reckon he’ll lean from his mistakes? Probably not. |

The only option I think we have for him is down the right but Amad looks a far better prospect. |

He's doing well there because he has acres of space to run at. It's why they get the best out of Antonio. Also, Moyes has a habit of getting the best out of shite, he managed to turn Fellaini into one of the most dangerous players in the league (from a football perspective) while at Everton. In a different setup and with different managers he was just a massive danger. The best thing about Lingards form at West Ham is that it will hopefully make it easier to get rid of him in the next transfer window. |

Dan James would run riot as well if he was given half the pitch to himself
Lingard had a purple patch like this in Mourinho's second season, and to a lesser extent in Ole's first few weeks. Shows the importance of confidence and a change of scenery. And makes you think Hopefully we get a decent fee for a change and this loan will have been a good bit of business all round |

His head had gone a bit at OT, the last 18 months he was a shadow of his former self on the pitch. Previously he'd been hit and miss, but could always be relied on to be finding space, grafting and wanting the ball, that all disappeared and he was hiding in plain sight on the pitch most of the time. He's not top tier by any stretch, but he's always been decent and capable of contributing, only those blinded by their, weird, hatred of his character can't see that tbh. |

West Ham make the pitch bigger, they play with 9 men deep behind the ball, with the two most advanced players (Lingard being one) chasing and pressing after the ball. And when they win the ball back they just pick it up and run at the opposition on the break. It's a simple job that he does well. But unless you want to completely change the way we play and build a team around a mediocre 28 year old bean fanatic then we should be counting our lucky chickens that we're in a position where another club might want to buy him. If he plays for us again, the only natural role he'll have is to play in Bruno's position, one where he won't just be breaking everytime he picks up the ball, and where he would actually have to play some solid football. In reality he'd be man-marked out of the game by oppositions that set up like West Ham do now. Within a month you'd be cursing the fact that we didn't sell him while we could. |
