Re: FIFA Technical Report on 2010 World Cup - in 15 points
the death of 4-4-2 eh? yeah okay. apart from Uruguay. but they don't count because Forlan played as a split striker? yeah okay. and Bayern didn't really make the CL final last season, and anyway they don't use anything remotely resembling 4-4-2. and Ferguson never favours two up front either, and wouldn't dream of winning the CL two years ago with such tactics... 4-4-2 is a dead formation; dinosaurus etc
most of the successful sides played ahem 4-2-3-1. allowing for the fact that they tweaked it to suit the opposition or the players they had available. so that even when it might - just might - have resembled, ooh let's say 4-4-2 it was of course not 4-4-2 with split strikers and wide men pushed on at all, but actually the mystical 4-2-3-1. it certainly at no point was 4-5-1 either... talking of getting in down the sides btw (point 6 i believe) i've been watching United for 35 years... |
