Obscure comparison, perhaps, but this is currently giving vibes of a Newcastle season under Bobby Robson 20 years ago, where they were deep in contention for a number of competitions with a good attacking team (Drogba knocked them out the UEFA semis) then folded taking a couple of points in the last 5 games to be nudged out the CL places.
