Can't remember which final it was for but remember having a few pints in town and OT being opened through the night for people to queue - sat in a queue on stretford tunnel all night - it went back up united road and weaved in and out of the ground, got out under the exec tunnel 15 minutes before ticket office opened - £#%&!ing freezing and hungry - and opened my token sheet not glued the last 2 special tokens in - left them at home - luckily steward who had been on all night said he was finishing in 1 hour - if i got back in time he would let me join the front otherwise it was straight to the back..................

Needless to say just made it by seconds

And people moan about having to ring up! I remember my old man used to buy about 3 programs every week for the tokens before they started putting them on the tickets. Was a few reserve games where they printed special tokens as well iirc.

Tokens were a bastard. I collected programmes as a kid and they'd always have a little corner cut out

i loved those tokens, tbf.

They used to write on your token sheet what away games you'd applied for, we always used to get them even though it used to be a "random ballot" as we went to every game. That was when you could actually ring them and talk to a normal person who had a rough idea who you were not like today
