What are you unreasonably intolerant about?

Doesn't really fit here but its the closest to a cringe/awkwardness thread.

Lets say I'm intolerant of being put on the spot to qualify.

Wasn't me though. Had the radio on earlier, local radio.

Presenter was doing a giveaway and contacted a listener. Lets call her Mary, I don't remember.

Presenter: "Hello Mary, this is whoever at whatever fm. Do you remember messaging us for a €500 cash prize last week?"

Mary: yes

Presenter: And how are you this morning Mary?

Mary: could be better

Presenter: oh, I'm sorry to hear that, what's wrong?

Mary: I'm in hospital

Presenter: ahh, and why are you in hospital?

Mary: Cancer

Presenter: ....., ummmm

Brutal!

I’d like to add:

Actually telling someone how you’re doing when someone asks ‘how are you?’.

It’s a greeting. You are not supposed to actually answer it. You’re now burdening someone with your day, week, month after they’ve basically just said hello. Awful, selfish bastards.

After years of only using the greeting ‘alright’, I thought the ‘how are you’ greeting was to be taken literally when I moved away from the NW. didn’t take long to realise they weren’t actually interested

Wait you guys do say “not bad thanks mate” or “same old pal” or some other stock response right? You don’t just reply to “how are you?” with a “hello” do you?

I've reverted back to a nod and maybe an 'alright'. Asking anyone over here how they are is an open invitation to people opening up on deaths, personal illness, sisters cancer etc, yeah you're alright

Not quite the same but my mums mate has had a son and did a Facebook post with a load of pics a couple of days after giving birth: “Welcome to the world little Ian Watkins”

Needless to say someone had a word as the post has since been deleted and the name has changed.
