It’s mystifying isn’t it? Surely one of the purposes of a loan is that you get the wage off your books for a bit and monitor how they do before making a permanent decision.

If he’s doing really well there, and it sounds like he is, why not bring him back, sell Jones and Bailly to an Everton, Palace type team, keep McG/Linders/Axel/Smalling as your CB rotation and throw whatever proceeds you get from the sales into the pot to shore up other positions?

He doesn't want to come back, he's pushing for a full move.
