It's actually not irony unless they were purposefully taking the action of mispelling etc. to make their point.

The proper insult would have been "Without a hint of irony."

They won't get him this summer, but tbh I doubt if he would be happy to go without CL football indefinitely. And who can blame him?

Maybe in the indefinite sense you mentioned before, but players often give up a year in the Champions League. Dortmund able to keep Hummels, Aubameyang and Reus last summer despite finishing mid-table. Doubt Chelsea will anticipate a bunch of transfer requests this summer, either. Nor would City have likely lost De Bruyne or Aguero had they missed out.

Obviously if we keep underachieving and a proper big club like Barca or Bayern come in for him, things change. PSG though
