Manchester United's last minute striker target may have just become a little clearer. France's RMC are usually pretty decent on the reliability scale and on Sunday they reckon Manchester United have made a €50m bid for Anthony Martial.

RMC say that talks are currently underway between Manchester United and AS Monaco, with there being a worry a 'talent drain' will continue in French football. Again this summer several Premier League clubs have done their shopping in France's Ligue 1 and it's considered that players are available there more cheaply than other alternatives.

A fee of €50m for Martial certainly wouldn't be regarded as cheap and we'd assume it's something Monaco would accept. Martial has been linked with moves to several English clubs this summer, and at no stage was it thought he'd cost so much money.

However, it's that stage of the transfer window when costs rise to compensate clubs for losing key players late. It's worth considering that France's transfer window closes on Monday night, meaning Monaco would have to work very quickly to bring a replacement in.

Martial is 19 years of age and can play as a striker or on the left or right wing.
