As long as Ed Woodward can give presentations on the cash cow that is United the day the team loses at home, no progress will be made. Manchester United needs to rid themselves of the Glazer ownership

easier said than done, united are valued so high that it makes it nigh impossible to rid the clubs of the glazers.

The article presents much of which was already known.
With the benefit of hindsight it was clear the continuing fantastic success of SAF was the Glazer target, he was the Manchester United asset they valued the most... a proven winner.

"Succession planning" if it existed was to sell up once SAF retired, realise the premium on the growth of the asset from £0.8B to somewhere in the region of £1.5B (when Fergie retired).
Why they didn't sell up remains a mystery, some believe if old man Glazer had been around they would have sold up, but it seems the three sons enjoy running the club, (for how much longer its hard to say just now)

They tried to find another 'proven winner' in Jose, but so far winning the Caraboa Cup, the Europa cup, getting to an FA Cup final and finishing second in the PL (when far from their best) is not good enough, so the sage continues.

The odds on Glazers selling up might be getting better than Jose leaving??

Reasonable analogy to the playing stuff whose above market wages prohibit their sale

At over 2 Billion I can't see many bidders

Just a shame it’s taken 14 years since the original buyout for this to truly hit home. Testament to Freggle that was but this has been 10 years since Ronnie left when it started to bite #value

To be honest, Frogson was one in a Billion and I don't think there will ever be another.

If we want to win the league or even the European cup again, we're going to need very, very rich owners who are prepared to throw money at the club. The purists won't like this, but it's the only way.

Not sure that is true TBH Albert.

Look at the past 10 CL winners. With the exception of Chelsea, none of them were owned by a rich individual.

This is what I don't understand though.

There must be a billionaire somewhere who either loves football, or just loves the glamour of owning one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Where are all the oligarchs nowadays ?

Four Real Madrid, Three Barcelona, Bayern, Chelsea and Inter

I agree that there is only one oil billionaire in there, but those clubs are hardly poor are they, plus none of them have owners that are sucking huge dividends out of the club

Many of them like the idea of "creating" a mega-club (eg city, PSG) more, it would appear

Turning point for Utd NQAT

09 to 13 we had enough in the tank for a couple more titles but we all knew what was round the corner with the penny pinching.

Glazers will be gone in 5 years IMHO as the cash cow will be more or less drained if things continue as they are

Don’t think I can remember such an in depth discussion regarding the ownership and how the club is run on one of the big sports channels tbh?

Crouch on the money.

yeah yeah yeah. nothing will change, mongs will pay them forever. pointless even thinking about it.

the main issue is they seem fine with who is in charge of the club. the money has been used terribly.

well we've been saying this for £#%&!ing years and all of a sudden they've finally decided to start talking about it. Obviously without mourinho and his drama show in charge, they've had to actually look where the problems are stemming from.

this has been a slow £#%&!ing death but it started 14 years ago when they took over and got their £#%&!ing claws into us. Like radiation poisoning, we seemed fine at first but years down the line our £#%&!ing skin is peeling off and our organs are failing.

Fergie and gill leaving was the watershed moment.. the two people who were basically keeping the show together. They £#%&!ed off and suddenly the morons who bought the club who had no interest beyond finances decided to do the only thing they knew - give the job to their favourite investment banker.

the rest as they say is history

Less resistance and scrutiny for their sportswashing.

£#%&! Gill. It was entirely fergie and the psychological hold he had on everyone which held it together during the slow decline as players aged. If Woodward had taken over from gill in 2010 he’d have looked competent.

Boycott the sponsors?
Someone start a campaign. List out all the sponsors and send letters to them that we will boycott their products and services.
Hit it where it hurts.
