If he comes, Pogba will go. Which will be a good thing.

Apparently chances of Madrid signing him are now 'nil'.

Strange for Madrid to back out when all that was left was the medical. Some underlying medical condition? Best kept quiet to avoid a drop in fees? Or they will go for the cheaper better option in Havertz

Would be right up Eds street this.

So are your chances of successfully predicting any type of football transfer, so not sure what to believe on this one.

It's probably just a negotiating tactic. Real try every trick in the book to drive down the price. When they signed Wes Snijder from Ajax they lied to Snide's agent that a deal had been done with Ajax and then proceeded to agree a contract. They then went to Ajax and told them Wes was joining them. Ajax understandable saw their arses but there wasn't much they could do. Real then went back to Wes' agent to say Ajax were playing silly buggers and holding up the deal (when in reality no deal was actually in place). Anyway all this succeeded in leaving ajax with nowhere to go -- their player's head had been turned and had no intention of ever playing for them again, so all they could do was go back and do a deal with Real who were the only possible buyer.
All's fair in love, war and the transfer market....

Considering they're different players and the valuation is about 60 million Euro apart you're probably right.

VdB looks a quality player, for the fee quoted we'd have to be mental not to want him.
