Because he isn't looking after himself in the way our standards should dictate, because of this he looks an embarrasment.
Gary Neville tried to retire as soon as he realised he couldn't keep up with the game, Rooney doesn't seem to have thought of anyone but his own selfish desire to keep playing and his lifestyle has not afforded him the energy to do it at this level.
