Big piece on our No.1 on BBC today.

Dean Henderson: 'He wanted everything yesterday' - keeper's rise to Man Utd number one

Quote:
Speaking to former colleagues and coaches of Dean Henderson, one word comes up over and over again: confidence. Throughout his loan spells, from Stockport County to Sheffield United, he never doubted he was destined to play at the highest level.

The self-belief needed to be a top goalkeeper typically comes with experience, but the Manchester United and England man relished defying expectations. His first taste of senior football was with Stockport in the National League North as a little-known 18-year-old.

"He fitted in really well. He came across as a confident goalkeeper without being arrogant. He fully believed in his own ability," remembers John Marsden, who was a forward at Stockport at the time. "From very early on, he was always saying he would one day be Manchester United's first-choice goalkeeper."...
Worth reading the whole thing. It sounds as though the lad won't stop until he's the very best

Sounds a bit too Joe Hart... let's see how it plays out. Keepers are a different breed.

Short sleeves and a cap.

We've basically got Chris Kirkland in net. Screams 2nd choice goalkeeper

I hate him.

A baseball cap keeper in 2021 ffs.
Only donning an epileptic Cech helmet would be worse.

If he must wear a hat it should be a Lev Yashin cloth cap

He’d have come for that corner. Only reason we don’t ever expect it is because we haven’t done it for ten years.

Too much pace on it IMO.

It’s not great from Matic, but sometimes it’s just a good delivery and one player wants it more. Didn’t have too many issues with it. We concede far too many from set pieces in general though.

And don’t score enough. Bit sick of watching Maguire win every header, but balloon it over.

He was going to have a below par game eventually, just a shame that it had to be this one.

Not his best night, but any keeper would have shipped four tonight. He was horribly exposed.
