Neither of those sides would have conceded 5 goals against Spurs or been dumped out of europe at home against 10 men and out of the FA cup at home against Bradford.

There are top players in our league but we don't seem to have an outstanding team. Maybe it's a post world cup season hangover, i don't know.

Totally agree.

That Chelsea side of 05 was a bit scary. This one is very good, but has its weaknesses.

I don't even think the standard of individuals is as high.

who are the league's best players? hazard - yes. aguero - yes. sanchez. ...just about yes, but yet to see him properly influence a really big game.

how many great midfielders are there? toure. ....umm. .....

do we have a genuinely world class centre half in the league?

Well all the top players we have get snapped up by the spanish giants. We're like a feeder league for Real Madrid and Barca.

Said that before Louis signings - same proposition prevailed (more or less).

Matic for great midfielders.

Centre halves are woeful. Cahill and Demichelis are mainstays in the top two sides

Maybe it's been said but going off the crowd noise I'm pretty sure the Villa fans started supporting Sunderland in the second half
