Default Has the EPL hype machine finally run out of steam?

Best league in the world? Surely Sky can't keep peddling this hyperbole with a straight face.

Very poor showing from the English clubs in Europe over the past few seasons, must be getting to the point where it starts to affect the UEFA co-efficient rankings - wouldn't be surprised if England goes the way of Italy and loses a place.

Now we aren't pace making with Fergie at the helm it all falls down.

They longed for us to fail for so long... Careful what you wish for...

This all over.

The Premier League needs a strong United.

Scudamore basically said as much last year IIRC. A PL without United at the top is shit

The TV deal, as structured, favours handing nothing provincial clubs serious money.

It's good for producing competitive 3pm Saturday fixtures, not very good for allowing the clubs that really underpin the deal to build fantastic teams. All the top teams in England are flawed.

It goes in cycles
About 6 or 7 years ago we had 3 english teams in the semis then Spanish and German teams became the best plus the Italians and Dutch have had spells at producing top sides (an all Italian final at OT IIRC)
I'm sure our time will come round again and it's good for european football competitions that it's spread about

Using United as a case point that's a load of shit. United are poor because of the glazers, lack of investment by fergie over his last few years, moyes being shit and then lvg not knowing how to construct a balanced squad plus unde performance. Other big teams haven't done as well as they could because they all have different failings of their own making. Chelsea were probably the only one that have just been unlucky rather than have failings.

But you're basically saying it not all that- it's actually that Swansea have too much money?

What a load of shit. The top English clubs still have huge wage bills and have spent millions more than most.

We just have poor set-ups these days in the management and coaching department.

The hype machine is completely separate from the quality of football.

They'll be serving up shit football week in week out, league or Europe, and there will still be Ultra Super Dooper Sunday's from Sky, the papers will still be telling the world that an English team will win the Chapmions League at the start of the group stages. All because enough people will buy into it regardless of actual results

I'm watching Utd up against teams playing with two banks of four but doing it with some quality players. Very hard to deal with that. The teams who can most weeks, city and Chelsea, can't then take that approach into Europe.

There's not enough good football played in England. No amount of spending on sub par players is going to change a culture which is flawed.

Get a jammy 1-0 win over a top side and everyone hails you. In Spain, they'll bemoan how such clodhoppers got into the next round of the cup. The standard of punditry lags way behind that in rugby.

Football in general is a heap of shit these days anyway.

Money has destroyed it's integrity.
