Yup, shifting our highest earner along (for a season) and all we have to do is pay most of his wages #proudofthelads

Wow.
Did you ever see him play at Arsenal? Have you ever seen him play for Chile? So, somewhere deep down, he has something in him far better than he’s ever shown for us, correct?

All we’ve done is kick the can down the road and pay for the privilege.

You can delete that if you want, I’m sure no-one’s seen it yet.

I’m not sure some of you understand how football contracts actually work.

Even if we’d sold him, we would have had to make up the difference between what he was getting at his new club, and what we were paying him.

Talking

Quote:
The Times understands that Inter have agreed to pay the majority of his £391,000-a-week wage during the ten-month loan deal, which was agreed last night after lengthy talks between the two clubs. It is understood that United will pay about £6 million of Sánchez’s wages during the loan spell, with Inter footing the remaining £9.64 million
Result imo.

His contract expired 30/06/19.

Sanchez is done. This is as good a deal as we could possibly have hoped for.

Thumbs up

One of the most damaging and worst return producing transfers in our history bulleted even if we’re paying part of the privilege is a result.

How come united manage to have players who are past it at 30? No other clubs’ players are past it at that age. Matic and sanches should be close to their peak and a few seasons away from being as useless as they are.

Don't think anyone could have predicted how bad he would be tbf.

Was a cracking player for a number of years, and literally fell off the edge of a cliff. To the extent where even the basics seem beyond him.

Similar to Shevhenko and Torres levels of drop off, but they had more of a reason with moving to a new league and injuries.

Because Sanchez has been playing first team football since he was 16 and his scurrying style was always reliant on pace and Matic should’ve been a CB but was shoved into CM for a few seasons and hasn’t got the legs or passing range for midfield. Both were very clearly on the wane and were awful signings, Arsenal and Chelsea couldn’t wait to see the back of them.

Yep.

I remember at the time a fair few Arsenal fans saying he was done, but tbh I just dismissed it as bitterness.

That's part of the problem, at a competent club he could have been sold with a transfer fee to offset any wages we would have to pay him. It isn't necessarily the case that the selling club makes up the difference in lower wages, if the player and his agent think they will rot in the reserves they will write off the difference.

I'm delighted he is gone for a season, it's better than nothing because he adds nothing. Though if we are going to take a financial hit when we eventually do sell him don't think it's too much to ask that we get it done now so we can all forget this turd ever played for us.

Good point re the drop off, it's quite alarming.

Before the Barca move I was always hoping United would move for him. Sadly, like Falcao, he did eventually end up at United but it was too bloody late.
