I do wonder if Pep was the wrong manager for him tbh. Put the emphasis on the wrong things for a CB with his head in the clouds. 5th choice now behind Laporte, Garcia, Otamendi and Fernandinho

Spurs and Arsenal interested..

Who was the lower leagues player who called Stones out on Twitter & stated how he'd play him, and would love to face him every week... they promptly played in either an FA cup or League cup game & the striker rolled him exactly as he said & scored

Maybe, but I really don't think he was that good at Everton.

Ever since Rooney, they seem intent on finding the next big thing. Other clubs seem to buy into their hype and you end up with Jack Rodwell, Ross Barkley and John Stones. All capable of moments of quality, but not the special talent they're bigged up to be. Which ofcourse is accelerated because they're English.

Rodwell never should have made the move, nor should Barkley and it seems to be going the same way with Stones.

Over-hyped.

No thanks.

There's a brilliant defender in him somewhere. Just doesn't look like he believes in himself enough...not helped by his coach not believing in him. Should have stopped making basic errors at his age but his confidence is shot. When he was at Everton I thought he was made for United.

Thought he'd be the next Ferdinand. Didn't mean Anton though.

Nearly typed 'Rio-esque' in my post. When Stones was at Everton that's what I thought. Unlike Rio though he hasn't been able to eradicate the mistakes from his game. Mentality, coaching? Dunno but he's not the player he could / should be.

Had some potential, but got pissed away. Rodwell-esque.

I remember when he got some pelters from his own Everton fans when he kept £#%&!ing about with the ball near the touchline before getting a pass away, and he gave some back to the terraces. Thought he was better than he was.

Another one to add to the list of young English talent that City destroyed.

Definitely a weak as piss Arsenal centre back type.
