10pm christmas eve they were taking the christmas stickers off the windows at my local tesco

Few places here started their January sale on Christmas eve.

It's just f***ing ridiculous. First signs of Christmas at the end of August, Halloween has been cast aside, January sales and Easter eggs in December, Valentines Day stuff early January, etc, etc.

When I was a kid there wasn't a sign of Christmas anywhere until a few days into December.
