Thumbs up Nuclear fusion breakthrough

Absolutely brilliant news if true.

I doubt though that there will be significant amounts of energy supplied by fusion in ten years time.

One of the many adavantages of fusion, if it is achieved, is that a fusion supply doesn't present the safety risks of fission.

Fission reactors are so expensive to build because of the staggering insurance costs that go with the safety risks.

These f***ers in theory could be built much more cheaply that current nuclear plants.

No carbon emissions, no safety risks, practically unlimited energy.

I'll take a look later and issue a feasibility report.

Stays on here.

Hasn't this "breakthrough" been claimed at least half a dozen times down the years?

Don't think so, no. At least not by a major player in advanced aerospace engineering with the resources to back it up.
