You can, tho. Or to be more accurate, he can.

Yeah, that one. What does that tell you about Madrid?

(Also, the last is rather a cheap point since the fella they groomed & would have stayed in the position for years died.:shakehead

Martino knew his days were numbered despite them still being in the Champions League and with the title in their own hands.

A major part of Barcelona's strength is that they're a team. Neymar and Suarez arrive, get along great with Messi and forge great partnerships. Bale arrives at Real Madrid and, like Higuain before him, finds himself isolated if he doesn't pander to Ronaldo.

How did that work out for Zlatan? Or Villa at the end of his time there? Or some of the young players Messi reportedly bullied mercilessly (Boban, Duelofeu, Grimaldi, Tello, etc).

Messi chooses who gets to get along with him. He's just as dysfunctional as Ronaldo, just smarter about keeping it hidden.

Which makes him a better team player. Unlike Ronaldo who chastises team-mates in front of 80,000 people every week. Even if, like Bale and Higuain, they're fighting for their careers there under the weight of criticism from the fans.

The 'reports' of bullying and Messi acting up are a little difficult to assess. It's not unlike the media to exaggerate. I don't contest the idea that Messi is an arrogant little weirdo, but on the pitch he's far more about the collective than Ronaldo.

Has there actually been a teammate (or ex) that has openly criticised Ronaldo?

Don't think people realise how good United and Ferguson was for keeping him (relatively) grounded.
Much as I love the magnificent vain bastard, that is so true.

.
There are a lot of players out there who aren't too concerned with the struggles of their teammates. You could argue that a strop during the game has no more effect on a player's confidence than constant undermining and belittlement in training. And Ronnie's got his own problems with Madrid fans.

Anyway, this is all a pretty good distraction from you casually shitting on Tito Vilanova's grave a few posts back. :shakehead:

If we're going on 'reports' like with Messi, half the Madrid squad dislike him. Wouldn't expect many to say it on record.

Of course he gets plenty of stick from ex-player pundits in Spain and Portugal. A pretty famous coach in Portugal, Manuel Jose, said last summer that he hampers the Portugal side because he treats his team-mates like employees or something. He gets a fair bit of that.

Of course Mourinho didn't seem like him much

I still like Ronaldo. He can act the @#%&! but he does it out in the open, always on the pitch and when he's off the pitch he seems like a good laugh. He's a bit panto but then so was Eric Cantona.

Messi looks like a grass to me. An absolute £#%&!ing snide.
