No guarantee that Poch is successful at another club, which would mean spending 40m on him (or any other manager) could be a big risk.

As Jammy mentioned a player has resale value, so if a player isn’t successful then a club ship them out and get the money back. Players are also a commercial asset to a club so can make a club money almost immediately whether they’re a big success or not.

I just can’t see a club like us or Bayern spending that much on a manager.

The excuses that were lined up when Mou, LVG, Pep didn't have the players they needed to make a success of things and this bloke turns out up at an absolutely shithouse club and makes them top 3 and now a Champions League final without any money but people still won't give him credit
