He’s just gonna go to Germany for a bit... it’s still good, it’s still good.

He'll want to do another season at Spurs, it's not like either of our two biggest rivals could be looking for a new manager around then

Will be United for the start of the 2020/2021 season. No question o'that. Ole is just keeping it warm.

Hoeness recently:

"We are immersed in a process to rejuvenate the squad and the summer will be the largest investment in signings in the history of Bayern."
Talk of another 200m euros on top of what they've already committed to Hernandez and Pavard.

Not sure why any big club would mind spending 40 mill for their top managerial target when you consider how much an average player costs these days.

40m is loose change......

Let's give Ole a chance, let Poch have a few sausages first ...

When a club spends big on a player they know they’ll make much of it back through merch and see them as a long term investment.

Managers aren’t going to sell shirts etc and are a lot more short term these days so a fee of 40m just to buy him out of his current contract could be seen as a risk.

Would be interesting to know what the record is for a club buying out a managers contract?.... Siders will know?

Doubt they’d want to spend 40m on a manager then?

Done a bit of research on this (well, googled it for a few minutes while on the bog )...

Only thing I can find is a story by JJ from a while ago when Chelsea bought out Villas Boas contract for 13.5m and it was a big deal they were paying that sort of money for a manager?

Is that the record?

Haven't we paid out more than that to get rid of managers in the last 5 years?

Yep.

A whole lot more I’d think

Curious as to how much the record is for a club buying a manager out of his current contract is though?

Of course he was going to join us.

That's why the decision to appoint Ole was such a ridiculous move.

Thanks. I’m aware of the difference between a manager and a player. What about teams splashing big cash on 30 year olds? No sell on value there either.

The point is that the best manager can bring a lot more success than any one player. And with the money in the game these days you’d think clubs would take that gamble.

Pochettino or Matic? Hmmm

The right manager will bring success...

No guarantee that Poch is successful at another club, which would mean spending 40m on him (or any other manager) could be a big risk.

As Jammy mentioned a player has resale value, so if a player isn’t successful then a club ship them out and get the money back. Players are also a commercial asset to a club so can make a club money almost immediately whether they’re a big success or not.

I just can’t see a club like us or Bayern spending that much on a manager.
