Yes & it helps having coaching stability. City are obviously favourites but they were almost handed the title after 7 games last season & look what happened . Long way to go & the next 3 games will give a very good indication of whether we will be in with a title shot come April. Thats what I see as contending. I get your point about budget as I think both City & Chelsea have better squads but Mourinho has bucked the odds before now.

Weirdly there’s been a correlation in recent decades between wages and where a team finishes in the league.

It also helps when you can sign numerous flops at 50 million each and not have it slow you down.
