It's the one time at a top club that you get to really train and coach your team

During the season at a top club you only get recuperation and preparing for the next opponent in-between matches
In pre-season you can really drill players into the sort of team you want
Even if that's the case, preseason friendlies where the team is frequently changed aren't really matches to demonstrate it. Preseason friendlies are worthless for anything other than fitness. A step up from testimonials is the best that can be said for them.

Is that supposed to have any significance?

Do you think if we weren't ahead on aggregate when 1-0 down we might have approached the last 30 minutes differently?

Fitness is number one for sure, but you can also start to find a rhythm and tempo to your play. I think conversations about tactics and formations can get a little over cooked sometimes and the basics get a bit lost. I'd like to see us move the ball much quicker and be a bit bolder in making off the ball runs. We are still too static and cautious, and far too frequently the simple things -first touch that perpetuates a move rather than stalling it, and ten to fifteen yard balls a player can run onto- are lacking. Not from all, but too many.
