This would be my team as well, i think swapping hernandez for an extra midfielder would be pointless.

Barca are going to have most the possesion anyway, but hernandez and rooney will put pressure on their defence, where they like to start their attacking moves as well as strecting their defence

Nani vs the Pea is the only selection headache imo.

Cool Re: Team v Barca - The Official Thread

I like the impact that Hernandez makes when he comes off the bench.. however, he's starting.

Just mulling over whether Park should go man for man on Messi and Rooney drop back to left midfield ! This could be an option if he runs riot in the first 20 minutes.

Need a carreer best performance from Carrick, and Vidic and VDS need to be on imperious form.

If we get outplayed then so be it, however we can't give soft goals away and at somepoint ( as in every game ) a reasonable chance will present itself. We need to take it. Hernandez fills me with confidence, Berbatov doesn't ! :shakehead:

It's the obvious choice, but will fergie see it that way? But that side is the one that plays to our strengths, rather than pandering to barcelona's

Also agreed with Bedders team - think he might go more cautious though. The midfield could get overrun with that team unless Carrick is very disciplined, Park weighs in and Giggs is more careful in possesion than he often is.

Anyway - I'm really excited. Let's £#%&!ing do it.

Whatever side we put out, we risk getting overrun. Fletcher isn't fit enough to be considered, while Anderson and Scholes haven't done quite enough recently to earn a place. It has to be that team. 4-4-2 with the ball, 4-5-1 with Rooney dropping left and Park making a three when we don't. We're better equipped than two years ago. We're fresher, in better form and with harder workers in Hernandez and Tony. I think we'll prepare better and i think we'll be ready. Fergie's finest moment if he mastermind us through this one.

Charlton, David doing a Paul Parker-style limpet man-to-man marking job on Messi. He'll follow him everywhere, wipe excrement on his shirt and call him a '£#%&!in' lirrel @#%&!' a few times. Job done.

I don't think anyone would be surprised to see that team.

vds

rafa - smalling - vidic - evra

carrick - fabio

valencia - rooney - nani

cheech

I'm prepared to gamble on nani although his recent form has been a bit shit and he won't defend like park or giggs. because he could destroy barcelona. I'd love to play berbatov, but I don't trust him to score.

we've got a good chance. don't want to be conservative and lose. let's at least try to show these @#%&!s up playing the united way. and by that I don't mean this season's away form.

they should be more worried about where their goals are going to come from.

Same team as the second leg against Chelsea hopefully but i have a horrible feeling fergie will pack the midfield and play Rooney up top on his own.

We should go at these @#%&!s from the start and play the United way, if we win it will be £#%&!ing ace, if we lose at least we have had a proper go at them this time.

They shit it when we went at them from the start last time even if it did only last for about 15 minutes before we totally bottled it.
