Ole's had enough. He gave Martial plenty of chances.

What an awful season he’s had after all the promise at the end of last season

Yep. Complete write off and he’s in big trouble in the summer.

He REALLY needed to kick on after last season. He failed.

Who in their right mind would even consider signing a bloke with 4 league goals and about £200k a week wages?

Swap for Sancho. Dortmund seems like the perfect team for him.

I’d swap him for Welbeck.

He’s the biggest fraud in the squad.

Such a waste of talent. Can’t get my head around it.

Reminds me of that conversation Mourinho had with Dele Ali. ‘You’ll look back and regret it’.

Saw it on the TV, I think. Imagine putting that on the telly.

He’s not wrong though. You just can’t get through to them. In the old days you’d expect some sort of reaction from a heart to heart, but I think this lot have had it too easy. Seven figure net worths on the back of either potential or a couple of good seasons. It’s easy to forget that few have the winners metality of a Ronaldo or Rooney; they just don’t care enough.

That would be me if I had the talent. Sign a big contract, set for life no matter how poorly I did my job. Utter bliss. Definitely take a mid career break n’all. Get absolutely leathered for a year, then fraud some other mugs into a contract.

At the end of the day, I reckon Ole has looked at big Tone’s contribution so far and figured we can soldier on without him. I’m willing to hold my hands up and admit that he’s not had the best season by his standards, but do I think this is the end of Anthony Martial? Of course not. Obviously it’s hard to be too specific about what was said but I imagine Ole put an arm around Tony and said something like:

Quote:
Hey Marsh, hope you’re feeling ok bud. That 9 is yours, don’t worry. You have a rest now for a couple of months, you’ve earned it. Get yourself fit and strong, and get out there this summer and show your country just what Anthony Martial can do. And when you come back next season, you’ll be ready to be the player you were born to be. You’ve got this, pal.
And I reckon it meant a lot to Martial.

If you read what Ole said, it explains how.
